American rock guitarist and singer/songwriter, born August 4, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Based in Los Angeles, California.
Plays guitar, mandolin, as well as trumpet, cello and keyboard. Best known as a member of Little Feat (joined 1988). As a sideman and session player, has performed and recorded with many other artists, including Bob Dylan, Jimmy Webb, Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Brown, Tom Waits, and others. Formed a duo with Paul Barrere, as "Paul and Fred."
