John joined CTI after college having written a letter to Creed Taylor offering his services with music and law degrees. Initially joined A&M in mid-1974 as joint coordinator for the Horizon Jazz series out of the A&M Records 595 Madison Ave. NYC office. Between '75 and '77 Snyder started his own company and label called .
In 1986 he became Director of Jazz productions for Atlantic Records and working on revising the Atlantic Jazz anthology line. Snyder would rejoin A&M in 1989 to reissue A&M and A&M/CTI releases on CD as part of his portfolio of independent productions..
Snyder is producer of thirty-four Grammy® nominated, and five Grammy® winning albums. In 2004, he joined the faculty of Loyola University (New Orleans) College of Music and Fine Arts from which he has since retired.
